Friends and Associates, We – Pangea House – have been pretty terrible about updating the website recently. Social media is just so convenient sometimes and when life gets overwhelming, one (or a collective “one”) gets lazy. We are trying our best right now to remedy that. All of our currently scheduled upcoming events are listed on the right-hand side and as new events are added, we’ll keep them updated. Below are some important pieces of information: 1). There is a super awesome-empowering-patriarchy-smashing show at the Taube Museum of Art on Saturday. Check the flier (featuring an awesome linocut by Jazmine Wolff) below! 2). Pangea House is without a current physical location. Despite our tremendous excitement about our location below 2D Ink, the noise was too much for the residential neighbors. We have no desire to be a nuisance to our community, so we had to vacate that location. If you have any information regarding reasonable commercial space in Minot, please do email us at pangeahouse@gmail.com or through our Facebook. Thanks again to Jordan Ross and all of the artists at 2D Ink. 3). Why Not?!? 2013 registration is open. Check out http://whynot.pangeahouse.org for more details and regular updates. August is still many months away, but we’re all really excited for planning this years Fest-ivities. 4). Upright Citizens Brigade’s Touring Company is coming to Minot! We didn’t book this event, but we wholeheartedly endorse it.
Salutations! Tomorrow night (tues oct 9) there will be a lampshade brigade meeting to discuss our winter production! And you’re invited! Topics of discussion will include what the production will be and whether or not we go on tour. Even if you can’t make the meeting tomorrow you are invited to contribute/be in it! This is going to be an ongoing process and we want as much community involvement as possible. 7:30 at Pangea House Some things starting in September that I want everyone to know about and come be a part of (more solid dates to come): 1. I’m going to be curating a Bible study based on… The Bible (of course!) and the album “The Life of the World to Come” by The Mountain Goats it’ll be something like every other wednesday night (opposite the weeks of the regular Locus meetings) at the Pangea House 2.0 (23 2nd ave SE, Below 2-D Ink) specific date TBA 2. The Lampshade Brigade will be starting work on an original, fully devised theatrical tour production for touring late december 2012/ early 2013. We’re looking for tons of community involvement, help, and support. A devised theater production is basically a collaboratively written/built piece based on a particular theme. There’s going to be general plann ing meeting held at the Pangea House in which all who are interested in helping to write/build this are welcome to attend and help plan. We’ll be covering things like scheduling, themes, process, “how much do I have to be involved in order to ‘be involved’?”, and “But no, really, what the hell is Devised Theater?” Also note, a production like this is only as strong as the sum of it’s parts so if you’ve ever wanted to write, build a touring set, build puppets, costume, compose music, design scenic sound/lighting/etc., or act in something like this, then this is you chance. Please consider helping out or contributing however you can during this process because you are amazing and we want your help!
3. Now that we have the new Pangea space all ready to go we’re going to be starting up our Sunday Night Comedy Improv Jam nights once again! We’ll be planning to go every other sunday night so keep your eyes pealed for that specific date if you’re interested! –Stro
